Naughty Dog is one of the most infamous video game development houses of the last twenty years. They’ve been working in correlation with Sony to create an Uncharted film. This is now being extended to an HBO-supported television series based around “The Last of Us”. This is another brand from Naughty Dog, which is set in a post-apocalyptic world. The developers of this show will increase Craig Mazin, the writer begin Chernobyl and Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog. He’s the game director that’s helmed both versions of The Last of Us.
The President of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, will also take the role of executive producer. It’ll be co-filmed and created with Sony Pictures Television, which extends to PlayStation Productions as well. It appears that the Sony Corporation is beginning to spread their brands to different forms of entertainment. This would allow them to compete against Xbox on an entirely new level, enabling for free advertisements and exposure to their respective brands.
It should be noted that minimal information has been provided around HBOs The Last of Us. Though the Hollywood Reporter mentioned, they’ve spoken to inside sources who claim the storyline will follow the first game. It’s also unknown when the television series is slated to be released, with The Last of Us Part II (The Video Game) being released on May 29th. It’d be impossible to coincide the release of the game with their future television series.
Craig Mazin from HBO’s Chernobyl, one of the most exciting and popular television series from 2019, spoke on this newly confirmed announcement. He stated: “Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honoured to do it in partnership with Neil.”
Additional Television Series
The Co-President of Sony Pictures Television, Chris Parnell, spoke with reporters from Hollywood Access. He noted that this would be the first of multiple television series being released under the PlayStation Production House. Video game analysts believe that other notable games like God of War, Shadow of the Colossus or Until Dawn. Countless properties are available for Chris Parnell to select from, with games excited for all live adaptations.
