Treyarch Studios, the developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has announced a new mode that’s exclusive for PS4 and PS5 gamers. Zombies Onslaught is becoming an exclusive for Sony’s consoles for twelve months, with the new mode implementing minimal changes compared to the standard Zombies gameplay seen with Treyarch-developed Call of Duties. Treyarch detailed that this new mode increased the difficulty by more significant percentages per round, with the number of spawning Zombies being higher than previous iterations. For dedicated supported of Treyarch Zombies, it’ll be the first notable challenge in years.
There are minor changes compared to the standard Zombies mode & Zombie Onslaught with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Gamers selecting the standard mode receive an exclusive map & storyline. However, choosing Zombie Onslaught enables players to deploy across multiplayer maps with traditional loadouts. This will create greater versatility in how the Zombies mode is approached & increase the number of maps offered.
Treyarch has introduced a specialized gameplay feature for Zombies Onslaught. Arriving at the multiplayer maps will see movements restricted & delayed, which is prompted by a Dark Aether Orb seen in previous Treyarch CODs. Zombies begin spawning around players before attacking, with each one killed permitting faster speeds for movements. Defeating multiple waves of Zombies enables the Dark Aether Orb to move locations, with each area sustaining a small circle similar to Battle Royale. This creates notable challenges when approaching Zombies Onslaught, with new strategies & skillsets required from dedicated supporters.
Rewards are issued to gamers depending on the number of “Elite Zombies” that are destroyed. Elite Zombies are harder to kill, faster in their movements, and have specialized abilities that can destroy players in one strike. Obtaining a “Gold Reward” or any other will transition into standard multiplayer modes. PS4 and PS5 gamers wanting to try their hands at Zombies Onslaught can purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 13th, 2020. Xbox players won’t have access to this mode until November 13th, 2021. The associated cost of purchasing this game is $70.00 for Americans & $90.00 for Canadians.
